Day Trips from Zagreb – Coastal and Nature Escapes
For those wishing to explore beyond the capital, a one-day trip from Zagreb to the Adriatic coast is a feasible and attractive option. Destinations such as Opatija, Crikvenica, or the island of Krk are just a few hours away by road.
These scenic seaside towns offer beautiful promenades, coastal views, traditional cuisine, and a relaxing Mediterranean vibe — even on a short visit. While a full day at the coast may be packed, it’s a refreshing opportunity to enjoy the sea and take in a different side of Croatia.
Alternatively, participants can visit the stunning Plitvice Lakes National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its crystal-clear lakes and breathtaking waterfalls. This trip can also include a short stop at a coastal town, offering the best of both inland and coastal Croatia in a single day.
These day trips are usually arranged by local travel agencies and can include:
- Private/group transport
- Optional licensed tour guide
- Entrance fees (e.g. for Plitvice Lakes)
- Lunch or free time by the sea
